- Heritage Suites Hotel's Bungalow Pool Suites each have a private 8 meter pool, with aggregator rates from $94 for late October 2026.
- Onederz Siem Reap, two minutes from Pub Street, has four pools open 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and dorm beds from about $5.
- From March to May the average high is 34.9°C to 35.8°C, and the pool hours from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. are the hours the temples are too hot to visit.

The best hotel pool in Siem Reap is not the biggest one but the one you can lie beside at 2:00 p.m. without burning, because that is the only hour you will use it. From March to May the temples become unbearable by 11:00 a.m., and the hours until about 3:30 p.m. are spent at the hotel. A pool with shade, enough length to swim and water that does not sting after three hours is what separates a good afternoon from four hot ones.

Pool lists for Siem Reap rank by the photograph. The photograph is taken at sunrise, from the far end, with nobody in the water. It says nothing about whether the pool sits in full sun at 2:00 p.m., whether it is 1.2 meters deep throughout, or whether the loungers are claimed by 10:00 a.m. Those lists also recycle day-pass prices from years ago, and most leave out that several of the best pools in town are open to non-guests for $5 to $15.

This guide sorts pools by three measurements: length, shade in the early afternoon and saltwater. It covers long pools, shaded garden pools, saltwater resorts, private pools, hostel pools and day passes for non-guests. Pool length is given where the hotel or two listings publish it, and shade is described from published descriptions, so a photograph taken at 2:00 p.m. from the hotel is still the best test. The [where to stay in Siem Reap pillar](https://www.angkortourism.org/where-to-stay-in-siem-reap/) covers the hotels in full. Prices, hours and transport times below were checked against operator websites and official sources in October 2026.

## Three Measurements: Length, Shade at 2 p.m. and Salt

**Length.** A 20 meter pool lets an adult swim lengths. A 10 meter pool is for floating. Few hotels publish the figure, and those that do are named below with it.

**Shade at 2:00 p.m.** At 12° north the midday sun is high, and a pool open to the sky is in full sun from about 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from March to May, when the average high runs from 34.9°C to 35.8°C. Shade comes from three things: big trees, the building itself, or parasols. Trees are the best, buildings are good for part of the afternoon, parasols cover the loungers but not the water. The hot season guide explains what April does to a temple day.

**Saltwater.** A saltwater pool uses a chlorinator and far less added chlorine. After three hours in the water every day for four days, children and anyone with sensitive eyes notice the difference.

Three smaller things decide whether the afternoon works. Depth: a pool that is 1.2 meters throughout is for standing in, and a deep end lets adults swim and children jump. Loungers: count them against the rooms. A 35-room hotel with 12 loungers runs out by 11:00 a.m. in December. Food: a pool bar that serves lunch means nobody has to get dressed and walk to the restaurant in the heat, which with children is half the battle.

The rainy season changes the question. From May to October the rain usually comes in the afternoon, often for an hour or two, and the pool that wins is the one with a covered terrace or sala beside it, where you can sit out the storm and get back in. A pool with nothing under cover beside it can lose the whole afternoon to one storm.

One more test: ask the hotel by email for a photograph of the pool taken at 2:00 p.m. A hotel proud of its afternoon shade will send one.

## Long Pools: For Swimming Lengths

Listed by published pool length, longest first, with the pool whose length is not published last.

### 1. Phum Baitang

The honest verdict: the longest pool in this guide, at 50 meters, and one of the most exposed to the sun. A 50 meter infinity pool over 8 acres of working rice paddies, 15 minutes west of the center in Svay Dangkum, among 45 wooden villas on stilts. Pool Villas add a private 20 square meter plunge pool. Green-season rates start around $310 to $400 a night, with a three-night minimum from 20 December to 11 January. The limitation: the infinity edge faces open fields, so shade at 2:00 p.m. is the parasols and the villas' own decks, and the resort is a drive from everything.

### 2. Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor

The honest verdict: a 35 meter pool in town, facing the Royal Gardens. At 1 Vithei Charles de Gaulle facing the Royal Gardens, a 35 meter pool modeled on the ancient royal baths of Angkor, beside the Raffles Spa and a terrace restaurant. The Old Market is a 15 minute walk along the river. Aggregator rates started at $218 for 30 October 2026 and averaged $698 in December. The limitation: the hotel hosts weddings and groups that fill the pool area at weekends.

### 3. Viroth's Hotel

The honest verdict: a 20 meter courtyard pool within walking distance of dinner. Street 24 in Wat Bo, 7 minutes on foot from the Old Market, a 20 meter mosaic-tiled pool in a courtyard, described as saltwater in several listings, with all 35 rooms around it. Pool-facing Deluxe rooms are published at $159. The limitation: between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in December and January it is busy, because every guest had the same idea.

### 4. Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra

The honest verdict: a large resort pool with a children's pool beside it. At Vithei Charles de Gaulle, about 10 minutes from Angkor Wat, 238 rooms around what the hotel describes as the largest free-form pool in Cambodia, with a separate children's pool and cabanas and umbrellas at no charge according to booking listings. Non-guests pay $15 per adult and $10 per child for a day pass. Rooms started at $151 for 1 November 2026. The limitation: a conference resort, busy with groups, a 25 minute unshaded walk from town.

## Shaded Pools: Gardens, Courtyards and Trees

Listed by room rate, lowest first, with the hotel that publishes no room-only rate last.

### 1. FCC Angkor by Avani

The honest verdict: a courtyard pool under old banyan trees, in the center. The restored 1917 governor's mansion on the riverside has a saltwater pool in the courtyard under old banyan trees, and the 2020 reopening added a second saltwater pool. Rooms ran about $125 to $130 a night in the 2026 shoulder months. The limitation: some guests find the main pool small for lengths.

### 2. Shinta Mani Angkor

The honest verdict: a saltwater pool with rooms opening onto it, a 10 minute walk from the Old Market. On Oum Khun Street, 105 rooms around a striped-bottom saltwater pool in tropical gardens, with Poolside Garden Rooms that step straight into the water. From about $160 in aggregator listings. The limitation: the pool is busy in high season with 105 rooms sharing it.

### 3. Park Hyatt Siem Reap

The honest verdict: a shaded courtyard pool inside the Old Market grid. At 3 Sivutha Boulevard, a 5 minute walk from Pub Street, with two pools, the main one in a shaded courtyard. Rates ran from $191 to $699 on 25 October 2026. The limitation: the courtyard pool is not large.

### 4. Jaya House River Park

The honest verdict: two pools, one in a courtyard and one on the lawn. River Road, Treang Village, 6 minutes by tuk-tuk from the Old Market, with a silver-tiled pool in the central courtyard and a second pool on the lawn that guests use for lengths. Thirty-six rooms, each with a balcony or direct garden and pool access. About $338 for a January night in 2026. The limitation: the building shades the pools for part of the afternoon, not all of it.

### 5. Angkor Village Hotel

The honest verdict: a garden pool among wooden buildings in Wat Bo, with no published length. Street 26 off Wat Bo Road, a 5 minute walk from the Old Market and 15 minutes by tuk-tuk from the Angkor park, with an outdoor pool set in the gardens among traditional wooden buildings, a spa and a fitness room. The pool's length, whether it is saltwater and how much of it is shaded at 2:00 p.m. are not published. Room-only rates are not published, and two-night packages start at $320. The limitation: the pool is a garden pool rather than a lap pool, and the mid-1990s buildings have wooden stairs and no elevator mentioned on the site.

## Saltwater and Multi-Pool Resorts

Listed by room rate, lowest first, with the hotel that publishes no rate last.

### 1. Rambutan Hotel & Resort

The honest verdict: saltwater pools on a quiet lane at mid-range prices. Two properties on a pedestrian lane in Wat Bo, 5 minutes from the Old Market, each with a saltwater pool in a tropical garden. $53 to $92 for late October 2026. The limitation: both pools are small, and the bar is lively in the early evening.

### 2. Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat

The honest verdict: three pools, including a saltwater pool and a children's pool, at mid-range rates. Sala Kamreuk, less than 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from the center, with three pools: a freshwater sports pool, a saltwater leisure pool and a children's pool, open 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Published 2026 offers started at $89 against a list of $137. Non-guests pay $10 with a food and drink credit. The limitation: nothing is walkable, and the yoga schedule sets the mood.

### 3. Mane Boutique Hotel & Spa

The honest verdict: an 18-room hotel with a saltwater pool and a pool bar. Angkor High School Road, a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Old Market. A Classic room was $153 for late October 2026. The limitation: listings showed it closed for all of December 2025, so confirm your dates.

### 4. Treeline Urban Resort

The honest verdict: a second-floor infinity pool facing the river. Achasva Street in Wat Bo, a second-floor infinity pool on the road side of the building, facing the river, with a pool bar. Published offers ran 10 to 27 percent off from 1 November 2026 to 31 March 2027. The limitation: it sits between the building and the road rather than in a garden, so it is an afternoon drink more than a shaded swim.

## Private Pools: The Water to Yourself

Listed by entry price, lowest first. **Heritage Suites Hotel.** Bungalow Pool Suites near Wat Polanka with a private 8 meter pool and a steam room, from $94 a night in late October 2026 for the entry rooms. The pool suites cost more. **Templation.** Rok Rak Street in Sla Kram, 50 units, most with private pools, entry rooms $141 to $199 for 31 October 2026, pool villas not priced, and a $3 tuk-tuk each way to town. **Phum Baitang Pool Villas.** A 20 square meter plunge pool per villa, from about $310 a night in the green season, a drive from town. **Shinta Mani Bensley Collection.** Ten villas with private lap pools, sold only in packages for two from $10,500, not by the night. **Sala Lodges** has no private pools but 11 houses around one shared pool, which for a family can feel like the same thing. The [honeymoon hotels guide](https://www.angkortourism.org/honeymoon-hotels-siem-reap/) compares the private-pool options for couples.

## Hostel Pools Under $10

**Onederz Siem Reap** has four pools open 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., two minutes from Pub Street. **Mad Monkey Siem Reap** on Rose Apple Road has two pools and a rooftop bar. **Lub d Siem Reap** on 7 Makara Street has a pool with a swim-up bar on the quiet side of the river. Dorm beds at all three run about $5 to $9. Expect a social pool, not a quiet one. The cheap hotels and hostels guide has the full list.

## Day Passes: Pools Open to Non-Guests

The fallback for anyone whose hotel has a small pool, or none. Prices below come from the hotels' own pages where published and otherwise from a pool round-up updated in May 2026. Call ahead, because a pool can close to outside guests when the hotel is full.

## What Other Guides Get Wrong

1. **Ranking by the sunrise photograph.** The picture shows an empty pool at 6:00 a.m. The useful question is shade and space at 2:00 p.m.
2. **Calling every pool a pool.** A 1.2 meter deep plunge in full sun is a water feature. Length and shade separate a pool from an ornament.
3. **Recycling old day-pass prices.** Sofitel publishes $15 for adults and $10 for children in 2026. Older lists quote other figures and name hotels that have closed or stopped taking day guests.
4. **Ignoring saltwater.** For four afternoons of three hours each, the difference in eyes and skin is real, especially with children.
5. **Treating the biggest pool as the best.** Phum Baitang's 50 meter pool is the longest in this guide and also one of the most exposed at 2:00 p.m.
6. **Assuming a day pass is always available.** Hotels close the pool to outside guests in high season when occupancy is high. Call first.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Which hotel in Siem Reap has the best pool?

For length and setting, Phum Baitang's 50 meter infinity pool over the rice fields, 15 minutes west of the center. For lap swimming in town, Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor's 35 meter pool. For shade in the early afternoon, the courtyard and garden pools such as FCC Angkor by Avani's saltwater pool under its banyan trees. For a pool of your own, Heritage Suites' Bungalow Pool Suites with private 8 meter pools from about $94 a night in late October 2026. The best pool for a stay depends on whether you want to swim, float in shade or have the water to yourself.

### Can I use a hotel pool in Siem Reap without staying there?

Yes, at several hotels. Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra publishes a day pass at $15 per adult and $10 per child, with the gym, steam room and sauna. A pool round-up updated in May 2026 lists Hotel Somadevi Angkor at $11 per adult and $8 per child, Navutu Dreams at $10 with a food and drink credit, and Royal Angkor Resort and Angkor Era Hotel at $5. Several smaller hotels open the pool against a $5 spend at the bar. Call before the tuk-tuk ride, because high-season occupancy can close a pool to outside guests.

### Are there saltwater pools in Siem Reap?

Several. Navutu Dreams has a saltwater leisure pool alongside a freshwater sports pool and a children's pool. Rambutan Hotel & Resort has two small saltwater pools on its Wat Bo lane. Mane Boutique Hotel & Spa has a saltwater pool. FCC Angkor by Avani's courtyard pool and Shinta Mani Angkor's striped pool are saltwater according to listings, and several listings describe Viroth's 20 meter pool as saltwater. Hotel Somadevi Angkor's saltwater pool takes day guests at $11. Saltwater is gentler on eyes and skin, which matters for children spending three hours in the water.

### What time should I use the pool in Siem Reap?

From about 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., which is exactly when the temples are worst. From March to May the average high is 34.9°C to 35.8°C, and the stone at Angkor Wat radiates heat by late morning. The day that works is temples from 5:00 a.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the pool and lunch, then a sunset temple or the town after 4:00 p.m. That is why the pool that matters is the one with shade at 2:00 p.m., not the one in the sunrise photograph.

### Do Siem Reap hostels have pools?

The main ones do. Onederz Siem Reap, two minutes from Pub Street, has four pools open 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Mad Monkey Siem Reap on Rose Apple Road has two pools and a rooftop bar. Lub d Siem Reap on 7 Makara Street in Wat Bo has a pool with a swim-up bar. Dorm beds at all three were listed at about $5 to $9 a night in 2025 and 2026. The limitation is that hostel pools are social spaces, busy in the afternoon and loud in the evening.

### Is a pool worth paying more for in Siem Reap?

Yes, more than in most destinations. A Siem Reap day has four hours in the middle when the temples are too hot, and they are spent at the hotel every day of the trip. A mid-range hotel with a real pool, such as Navutu Dreams from $89 in the green season or Viroth's from $139, changes those hours more than an upgrade in room size does. If the budget does not stretch, a day pass from $5 to $15 at a hotel nearby does the same job for one afternoon.
